a. Brick buildings are, in some regions, the most common and most important of the
mass-construction buildings. In Europe, brick buildings are commonly covered with a stucco
veneer so that bricks do not show (Figure I-2). One of the most common uses of brick
buildings is the small store. These buildings are found in all built-up areas but are most
common in the core periphery (Figure I-3).
