NomadNet

NomadNet is a text-only browser for the Reticulum mesh network. There are two separate nodes below: S2 Underground's official node, and this site's unofficial fan mirror.

Why?

NomadNet is a text-only way to share pages over Reticulum, an open networking system that runs over the internet, LoRa radios, packet radio, Wi-Fi meshes or a cable between two computers. There's no central server, no DNS and no accounts: each node has a cryptographic address, and pages travel by whatever link is available.

  • It keeps working when the web is down, censored, or you're off-grid.
  • The Wire and Intel Update transcripts, entities, maps and scores stay reachable over the mesh.
  • It's a low-stakes way to practise with NomadNet and Reticulum before you need them.

Run by fans, not S2 Underground. For S2's own content, use the official node.

S2underground.com NomadNet Mirror (unofficial, not run by S2)

This mirror is run by fans. It is not run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by S2 Underground, and S2 Underground is not responsible for its content.

It serves this website's public index as text over Reticulum, a networking system that works without the regular internet (for example over radio or a local network). It is for people who are offline or who prefer the mesh.

In NomadNet, on the Network tab, press Ctrl+U and enter:

What's on the mirror

  • Wire and Intel Update transcripts
  • People, places and organizations
  • Hotspot maps
  • Freakout and recurrence scores
  • Search, manuals and guides, refreshed nightly

How to connect

  1. These steps work for both nodes. Install Reticulum and NomadNet: pip install nomadnet (this installs rns as well).
  2. Run nomadnet once to create its config. It needs a path into the Reticulum network: a local radio or LAN interface, or a TCP interface to a public entry point. See the Reticulum interfaces manual and the NomadNet documentation.
  3. On the Network tab, press Ctrl+U and enter one of the page addresses above. Save a node with Ctrl+S if you like.

If it worked, the node's home page opens as text in the right-hand pane. If you see "path not found" or it times out, wait a minute for the network to find a route and try again.
