//The Wire//2000Z March 25, 2023// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: Storms devastate the Mississippi Delta, causing mass casualties and widespread, historic damage. Recovery efforts ongoing.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -National Events- MS: Last night heavy storms created several supercells, which spawned multiple tornados as the WX front moved through MS. At least one F5 tornado (assessed by WX spotters) directly struck the town of Rolling Fork. So far casualties are as follows: 25x fatalities, and dozens injured. Most of the casualties occurred IVO Rolling Fork, though the damage is widespread throughout the state. Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing. Due to the extremely devastating nature of this event, there is much need for volunteers and donations of supplies. Ways to help: Team Rubicon is on the ground in the affected zones, and is looking for volunteers to help with clearing roads and cleaning flooded homes as needed. The Salvation Army has deployed canteens in Rolling Fork, Amory, Silver City, and Winona to provide food and water services. Shelters for displaced persons are also open at the National Guard Armory on US Hwy 61 in Rolling Fork, the Humphrey's County Multipurpose Building on Silver City Road in Belzoni, and the Old Armory National Guard Building on 9th Street in Amory. United Way in Rolling Fork is collecting donated goods and supplies at the John Deere store. United Way is also collecting drinking water at their HQ on 920 South Street in Vicksburg, which will be sent to Rolling Fork. Donated goods are also being accepted at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson. Analyst Comments: Though most of the severe impacts are being felt in Mississippi, this same WX system has impacted much of the American south. Flooding in Missouri resulted in 2x fatalities (and multiple water rescues). Flooding also occurred in Texas, and widespread power outages are being reported in Tennessee. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst: S2ANNNN
