Hello again everyone and welcome back to the underground this is the Intel update for January 26 through February 1st 2025 unfortunately it has been a very packed Week full of tragic news so we'll get into that in just a moment the very first thing that I wanted to kind of briefly announce is uh some developments with regards to the mapping projects that I have been working on in typical fashion just as soon as I get something sort of set up some event occurs around the world to kind of bring my project into kind of a trial by fire sort of thing so one of the very first things I wanted to kind of make everyone aware of is a a new sort of talk dashboard uh kind of product that I've created that is pulling or or is going to pull a lot of data from a lot of different Maps so uh this is the project many of you have seen me post about it on social media and uh many of you are aware that I refer to this as kind of the talk dashboard this is a further expansion and kind of a onot kind of product for mapping if you have like a spare monitor at work or something something like that or if you just are are trying to monitor something you could even throw it up on your TV uh in your living room if you have like screencast on your phone or something like that you know to just kind of open up the the page in a web browser and and go from there that works just fine so this is really just kind of a one shot one screen kind of product that shows the maps and all of the uh things that I'm kind of working on I can bring in things like news feeds as you can see I can bring in my notes from obsidian and provide an onscreen text based kind of thing this is sort of similar IL to some of the products that we you know maybe use in kind of a more military setting some of you guys may look at this and say ah okay this is pretty familiar site uh from some talks around the country. But yeah for those of you who maybe don't have that bit of a background this is something that would be helpful in that sort of setting so that you can walk into a room look at a screen for 10 to 15 seconds and get a complete picture of what's going on so I wanted to announce that of course I was planning on having a full uh much larger video explaining all of the little tin details of this and I will do that in due time it's just that right when I put this together the world kind of fell apart which is fairly typical. But so the general rule of thumb moving forward is if there's anything going on around the world check this map um you don't need an account you don't need to create anything you don't need to log in or anything you just need to tap the link it will work on your phone. However the layout is different so I may or may not change that a little bit I can change what the mobile view looks like so if you want to have it on your phone it it will work it's just it's going to look different um. But I I can Custom Tailor that on my end so once again this is kind of a project I'm. Moving forward with and and trying to work on and improve but I just wanted to kind of announce it because I know that it's without me explaining it it's a it's a little bit heavy to kind of understand what this product kind of is so for those of you who want just a simple map and you don't want any of these extra little pains you don't want the the live stream video you don't want to see this uh change in real time with me then you can just view the standard map which I'll brief off of in just a moment so now that we know what that's all about let's go ahead and uh jump back to the slides here and let's talk about the Northeast region as many of you know in Pennsylvania last night there was a catastrophic plane crash in Philadelphia in a heavily residential area in which jet rescue air ambulance flight xaci crashed shortly after takeoff so far the cause of the crash is unknown. However it was extremely catastrophic uh there were six Souls on board to crew uh two medical personnel and one pediatric patient and one uh parent of that uh patient who was undergoing medical treatment uh in the United States before heading back to Mexico so exceptionally tragic in that regard uh. But it looks like there were a few people that were wounded and were killed on the ground it's it's hard to say because the aircraft as we can see here landed in a fairly densely populated area thankfully the aircraft was largely able to avoid Landing directly in some of the more residential houses that were there. However there were a lot of people out on the street it's a very very busy highway right so we'll take a look here on the on the big map and and see what's going on taking a look at the zp cop map as we can see of course the links for this map will be listed in the description below along with all the other links you may need to to know about this is a incident tracking or battle tracking I think incident tracking is a little bit softer of a term because obviously this is not really a military use kind of thing this is more of an incident response kind of thing once again very very densely populated area uh not particularly High income either which is has caused some concerns and caused some problems. Anyway let me see if I can back out a little bit here this Blue Line This Is The Raw adsb flight tracking data here where they uh came out of the airport and there's there's not really that much uh we can kind of see that they uh were able to kind of turn left a little bit and it just knows down so this is the last point right here I'm not sure how well that's coming out. But the last point that we have for the aircraft and it landed right here in the middle of Cotman Avenue at the corner of Bradford and Cotman now once again catastrophic crash so the debris field is extremely wide if we Zoom way out we can see how far away pieces of um debris and uh human remains were found uh I was listening to the scanner last night and was able to to plot some of these um remains that were found either on the roofs of buildings or in the street or on top of people's Vehicles sitting in on the street so yeah not very good one person here uh actually was struck by debris and injured while they were in their vehicle so I don't know if they were over here and. And then drove home that seems to be a fairly common thing so now unfortunately for investigators a lot of people especially the people who were in the parking lot of the mall here uh they have debris embedded in their vehicles they have debris uh all over the place and they obviously egest from the area very very quickly so the NTSB is going to have kind of a hard time tracking down all of the uh all of the debris for for this case now once again I just wanted to highlight some of the the things that kind of happened as the incident kind of broke out uh the very first step is to obviously try to find out where it is so this red circle delineates where I thought the plane actually touched down and uh impacted the ground and of course the icon there is a more refined grid that I geolocated based off of witness videos and things like that of course Philadelphia PD had kind of a hard time with this one so one of the main struggles that they had early on and the crisis is shutting down a major artery in throughout the city right so these are very very major roads and it was very challenging to to stop traffic and get people to just stay out of the area because this was a very kinetic plane crash obviously the incident command center for this crisis was originally in the Macy's parking lot and it was uh set up somewhere uh right outside the front door before moving inside to Macy's so after about 3 hours they're able to get either one of the managers of this Macy's store here to come and unlock the doors for him so they could use this structure there there was also a uh another command team I think Federal honestly that set up shop inside the Dunkin Donuts there kind of commandeered that sort of thing uh for for a few hours uh most of these roads were shut off and they had a hard time down here on St Vincent uh St Vincent again this is not exactly a high income area and one of the things that they had a huge problem with was over here at the corner of St Vincent and Bradford or Bradford Hanford Leonard Street uh all of these places here were kind of hard for local authorities to uh keep people out because they wanted to go back to their house. Even though their house was their apartment was on fire so once again people were kind of breaching the perimeter here which I delineated trying to help these guys uh get the perimeter set it's a pretty pretty hard thing to do honestly so so yeah it's a it was a pretty catastrophic event the recovery is on going uh most of these roads are open again. But I'm going to leave all of this uh information on the uh on the map here and then save it as a layer so uh and it will be in the archive folder on my rgis profile so for those of you out there who you know you want to create kind of a free account for rgis you don't need a uh any kind of subscription to get the data layers that I'm making I'm making all of this available to to everyone for free it's just that for some of these data layers you may need an account if you want to manipulate the data on your own. But it should be free so no big deal on that so that's really the story in Philadelphia let's move back to Washington DC and discuss the more catastrophic event which was the aerial Collision of American Airlines flight 5342 and a US Army vh60 mik variant that occurred as the American Airlines flight was attempting to land at Washington National once again anything involving aircraft is going to take some time to figure out exactly what happened so far not much data has really been solid to be honest these two aircraft collided and we don't really know why it could have been many many different things we will have to wait on the incident report to figure out exactly what happened what we do know. However is that this was a very catastrophic event and there were almost certainly no survivors so so right now as of as of this morning there are 67 presumed fatalities. But not everyone has been recovered yet and then that will be a very important thing to remember as we move on one thing that I did want to highlight that I mentioned yesterday in The Wire report is the misinformation that has come out regarding this this incident and as many of you have probably seen by now there was a brief scandal in which some unidentified users on social media claimed that the pilot of the Blackhawk was transgender and we now know that is that is not true or at least the person who is claimed to have been the pilot of the Blackhawk is still alive they obviously were in the wrong unit they uh were in the wrong service Branch entirely so something that's very very obviously and blatantly false this has not been made any better by the fact that the family has requested that the last member of the Blackhawk uh their identity to be withheld for the time being I think that that probably would not have occurred had this false information not been very very pervasive again due to the terminally online nature of of many people these days uh even during a crisis when we're still pulling bodies out of the river right you've got people that that that want to make this uh some kind of narrative kind of operation now we can definitely have that discussion later on. But during the crisis when people are still trying to recover the remains of their family members members it's uh you know probably not the best time for that sort of thing so one of the things that kind of complicated this is again the family has uh requested that the last member of the Blackhawk not be identified who knows why two members of the crew have have been identified the last one don't know. But it will come out in the incident report it will come out later on who knows why the family wants uh to keep the identity of their family member secret I don't know. But they probably just don't want to have to deal with any of it so once again the skos on the internet have kind of latched onto that and said I well see this is confirmation that something sketchy is going on I very strongly disagree we're going to know one way or the other so just give it some time there's no time sensitive nature to this the incident is over there are no more lives at risk this is this is done right so just wait have some patience and uh we'll figure out who it was later on and I'm sure a lot of people will look very very stupid uh with regards to their speculations so speculation is not necessarily a bad thing especially in the world of risk management if there was some kind of threat that was not completed yet then that speculation might be a little bit more helpful we could go out on a little bit more limb to to prevent further catastrophe from happening. But this incident is completely over with there's nothing that can be done we can't change the past so yeah it's one of those things where we've just got to kind of wait have the patience and realize that speculation does nothing. But ruin credibility so but that's just my personal opinion again speculation does no good so I'll just kind of move to the map and we'll talk a little bit more about the specifics of what went on so hopping over to the map here we can open up our bookmarks Tab and find Washington DC so that we can easily and quickly navigate around and let me go ahead and close that and we can see the the crash site here now originally once again in the water it's hard to geore reference things hard to geolocate things so um sorry if this this if this grid is not accurate the grid that I have for the aircraft was uh what the divers uh conveyed over the radio via sonar scanning so I think it's about as ACC of grid as we're going to ever possibly get. But again the debris field is fairly large I do not have the grid for the debris of the Blackhawk and it it may have been removed by now I I don't actually know either way the Blackhawk is somewhere in this region uh to the southwest of the main crash site uh in either case uh again standard incident tracking kind of rules apply here was able to identify three main staging areas for for resources again the airport being right here and the aircraft coming in again along this blue line to try to land at Runway 33 which is a fairly non-standard way of Landing uh either way the the airport uh had their emergency responders go all the way out to the Shoreline here there were forces on jbab who were staging. But I didn't feel it appropriate to say exactly where they came from or where they're going uh mostly because this map is public and uh unfriendly eyes are most certainly watching it so again this is very sensitive area jbab here is a uh very well-known sensitive site there's a lot of sensitive things here so just keeping that in mind as we move forward one of the main staging areas here was what was called as capital Cove and that was one of the main places we can scroll in here we can see it's a little Marina for semi-private VIP vessels things like that I'm not entirely certain who the customers are of this. But it looks like it's just a standard Marina probably host to VIPs because once again this is not a lowincome area this is very high income part of uh you know working things here jbab is is uh where a lot of important people stay and uh live now one of the things that occurred very early on uh was the capital Elite uh this was a point of communication error and Communications breakdown on the part of First Responders uh they can't help it uh it just happened and this is one of those things that you have to keep in mind with regards to incident response so when this incident first occurred plane crash time now go sort of thing of course authorities are going to want to get to any vessel Anything That Floats uh with regards a mass casualty a very large commercial aircraft being involved in in a collision in the water that's one of the worst case scenarios that you can possibly face right uh so they're obviously going to want to get to any vessel they possibly can and it just so turns out that the capital Elite was anchored here uh and was a pleasure craft so it's kind of one of those River Cruise vessels. But it's kind of like for VIPs a very Swanky kind of vessel this vessel was anchored here in the water but again Communications breakdown the capital Elite is not actually the name of the vessel the name of the vessel is actually the National Elite so once again Communications matter this is the kind of thing that happens uh the misnaming of things during a crisis so the vessel's name was actually the National Elite. But First Responders when they first showed up called it the capital Elite I don't know if that's because they got to Capital Cove and it's just it's an easy mistake to make. But this did occur and this did cause a few problems because Capital Cove and Capal Elite sometimes got confused over the radio so responders would show to Capital Cove when they needed to show up to Capital Elite uh and really when they looked it up on their radar so say you've got guys coming from Virginia you've got guys coming from cross the way all these play like it's a you know it's a maritime environment here so you've got a lot of vessels showing up and they're looking on their AIS tracking and they don't see a vessel called the capital Elite. But they see one called the National Elite so they have to do a little bit of assessment on their own and say ah okay go to the big white crew ship that's parked right there and that's basically going to be where it is so once again mapping is important uh and being able to get the grids and the accurate positions for these things the accurate names situational awareness is super super important I know a lot of the sort of tactical guys out there use aack for this sort of thing and that's all well and good you can import all of my data here uh into AAC. But uh when it comes to some of these larger crises we need something that's a little bit more disseminable and usable by uh average people so again I just wanted to kind of highlight how important this kind of thing is because these sorts of crises seem to be happening a lot more often for the most part this is kind of how this crisis went and and how the battle tracking or incident tracking went for this one as well I know I'm kind of down in the weeds with these sorts of details. But I thought it might be help helpful to uh discuss some of the things that we tend to work through when an incident is occurring so back to the slides here I know that there have been quite a few other incidents that have occurred throughout the week and I uh I wish I could cover all of them once again it has been a very very very busy week for politics and things like that we've got trade tariffs coming into effect we've got a minor diplomatic spat with Colombia uh which could have got gone a whole lot worse I hope to cover these in more depth perhaps next week or over the weekend and uh we'll we'll see what comes of it. But really I've mostly been in kind of battle tracking mode and trying to get a lot of these um digital products you know kind of out the door and more refined and you know not garbage so uh that's kind of been my focus for this week so I'm sorry if I'm I'm not able to kind of talk about too much I did. However make it to the ghost net this week so thank you again all of you who who are providing good content and and providing all the things that make this network a good resource for information sharing unfortunately I didn't want to remind everyone that there are some bad actors out there a lot of people who are causing problems and uh you know making things harder and unfortunately kind of tainting the whole thing and giving people kind of a you know bad taste in their mouth sometimes with regards to some of the things they say over the radio again not a lot of radio dudes will will talk about some of the bad culture problems. But I have uh I have experienced quite a bit of it so I I feel like I can't ignore it and in this case we've got the usual skitso who claims that this is some kind of uh Honeypot kind of thing as if amateur radio is somehow illegal to use um I have no idea literally what this guy's talking about. But I made a rather long post on social media or on Twitter about it and uh yeah this kind of thing happens all the time I mean I have Al kind of in somewhat of a paradoxical way I've I've talked about this quite a lot and yeah I don't like the fact that the FCC uh their database for call signs is public I just I don't like that I I think that's not good I think that's bad for privacy and and I um I think it's not it's not very good. But uh on the other hand you've got to realize that risk management is a huge thing so what would you rather do would you rather hop on the radio with hundreds of other people and talk about things like the weather and local news and engage in something that is legal and lawful for you to do and hone your skills so that one day you can just put in six different characters into your you know js8 call program if you know what I mean if you had to one day uh and now you're a completely different person sort of thing would you rather do that or not do anything at all so again in the world of radio I think a lot of people get so paranoid that they do nothing at all and unfortunately these kinds of people are very very pervasive in radio so it's kind of a paradox because the the same exact people tend to be the kind of people that are so upset about uh the FCC not being private or you know call signs being linked to their real name. But these people will still use their real name on like Facebook and they'll use their real name you know all over the Internet. Anyway I think it's kind of a interesting Paradox but once again I just want to remind everybody out there that there are malign actors in radio I'm not going to say there aren't there definitely are and a lot of them try to put a lot of fake information out there to discredit things they don't like to do I have received untold amounts of criticism from uh for this ghostnet product uh and project from many other hams and um yeah it's it's just one of those things where the the opposition has been very very significant. But I'm I'm glad about that honestly because it allows us to train and get better and do good things and uh generally figure out how to operate around some of the Bad actors. But let's face it I think that uh this country's got some pretty tough times ahead and I think that this opposition is very much a good thing because it helps us figure out how to uh work work around this kind of thing because if you can't work around the average ham radio operator seriously if you can't operate around these guys then you have no hope at at at working any kind of more serious thing so again it's annoying it it really kind of irritates me a lot of times uh the things that ham say and do especially things that I've worked so hard on. But at the end of the day it's it's a good thing to see uh even though I am I'm very very much annoyed at the kind of manipulation the lies the gaslighting the the things that tend to happen in the world of radio and everyone seems to be okay with or at least most people do so again more to come on that at a later time I just wanted to kind of address it because I thought it was I thought it was interesting. But anyway that's pretty much all I have for today again here are the sources uh it's been kind of a busy week once again for those of you who are not familiar with how I kind of do things now I have uh set up all of my sources for every wire report throughout the week uh so you can click the link at the end of every wire report in that will take you to my obsidian page where you can get the sourcing and the links and everything you need to click on if you want to double check my work again I don't expect anyone out there to trust me I'm perfectly fine with operating in a zero trust environment so if you want a lot of the primary sources I'm using to make these wi reports there you go form your own analysis right you don't have to just listen to me. But I think I'll call it a day I think that's pretty much all I have uh I've got to get back to battle tracking or incident tracking this uh Philadelphia thing so hopefully I can get this out the door semi early today these things take a very long time to produce as you guys can probably imagine. But yeah again that's pretty much all I have for today so thank you all for watching thank you all for all of your support thank you again to all you guys on patreon who are making this mapping project possible this stuff ain't cheap so again thank you guys all for that and I hope that I can turn that right back around and and use that as a uh beneficial thing uh for the future so once again thank you guys all for watching and we'll. See you next time and as always fight in the shade.
